We watched a movie together, either in late 2019 or the first half of 2020. I remember we watched it at her place upstairs (where we’d normally watch movies early on in our relationship) and that we watched it in the afternoon one day, likely a Saturday or Sunday.

It was a rom com. At one point in the movie the relationship between the two leads gets a bit shaky due to commitments they have with career and family. The female protagonist needs to fly to the other side of the country for her work, and the male protagonist feels like he needs to stay in his home city to continue with his life — a big part of which is also to be close to his ageing dad.

I’ve watched this movie several times since I first saw it but I never realised how much it mirrored our relationship because of how distance was going to keep the two protagonists apart and how all the male protagonist needed to do was to be brave, not worry about his dad and just follow his heart. The movie ended happily, I just wish we ended that way too.

Even though I’ve watched it several times over the years I’ve never seen this as a sign. It’s all driving me a bit crazy.
